PHAM Book Club
Since 2005, the Polish Heritage Association of Maryland (PHAM) has sponsored a monthly Book Club. We are dedicated
to reading and then discussing works by Polish authors or members of the Polish Diaspora (Polonia). Although we emphasize
selections from the Polish literary canon, we also consider works that feature Polish characters, settings, or themes.
All readings and discussions are done in English. To participate, email RecordingSecretaryPHAM@gmail.com.

Book Club Selection

For the PHA Book Club meeting on March 14, 2026, we will cover philosopher and author Stanislaw Brzozowski (1878-1911). He wrote novels and essays, but most of his works are not available in English. One of the most famous of his prolific writings is a book-length exercise in literary and social criticism called The Legend of Young Poland (1910). We will consider a couple of excerpts as translated by Michael Mikos, as well as some commentary about this work and author Brzozowski.
